Web Instructions for Property Listings and Time Share Listings

You must be logged in to edit content and create new listings and pages.

Before You Create a New Listing

To create a new listing you must first think of a topic name.
TIP In the wiki world, a topic is a single page of your web.

For example, you have a home to list that is located on My Street. You could choose the name MyStreet . Remember that in the wiki world you will be using WikiWords often. A WikiWord consists of two or more words with initial capitals, run together. Once you have decided on a topic name, it's time to actually create the topic.

Create the New Listing boxed_newtopic

ALERT! All listings, whether they be real estate or time shares must be created from this (WebInstructions) page.

  • New Property Title: (Name must be in WikiWord format.)
  • Property Description:

  • In the Box above, type the name you have chosen for the listing. Following along with our example, you would type MyStreet.
  • Next fill in the description for the property. (The first portion of this description will appear on the Listings page.)
  • Click the Create button.
  • You should now find yourself on the newly created topic (hereafter referred to as the data page) for the listing.

Fill In Data Form

  • Located at the top of the page is the Listing Form. This is where you will enter all of the details about a listing.
  • Fill in all of the fields in the listing form at the top of the page.
  • In the Image field you will see listing.jpg already filled in for your convenience. The image name that you place in this field will be the image that appears on the AllListings page and in the display table on each data page. You can leave this field as it is and in the next step, Attach Images to Data Pages, name the image that you want to appear on the AllListings page listing.jpg and upload it. Or you can replace listing.jpg with the name of the image that you want to appear, if you prefer not to rename your images.

TIP Images named listing.jpg will not appear in the Interior Image section of each data page, but will still appear on the AllListings page and in the display table of each data page.

QUESTION? To easily rename images under Windows you may find it convenient to change a Windows setting which hides file extensions by default. To do so, open Windows Explorer via the Start Menu or by opening My Computer. In the Tools menu choose Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog box click on the View tab and uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types".

  • Save the data page by clicking the Save button located in the grey box at the bottom of the page.

Attach Images to Data Pages

The first thing you need to do after the initial save of your data page is to attach all images associated with that listing.
ALERT! Image names cannot begin with a number.

  • Click the Attach Link at the bottom of the data page in the grey box.
  • On the resulting Attach page use the browse button to locate the image on your computer.
  • Include in the Comment field a title or description for your image.
  • Next click the Upload file button at the bottom of the page.
TIP Repeat this procedure for each image.

Adjusting the image sequence

By default the image gallery on each data page will display images in the order that they where uploaded. This determines their natural order. When you want to change this order you can prefix the comment of the attachment with a sequence number. For example: given a picture whose comment is My old bike, that should be put at position 12 in your image gallery; change the comment to 12 - My old bike. This will put the image at the desired position. Sequence numbers don't necessarily need to be unique, that is if there's another picture with a comment like 12 - My new bike then the natural order of both is relevant.

Adding/Changing Image Titles

If you want to change the title of description of an image or if you did not add a picture title in the comment field when you uploaded and attached an image, you will need to add it through the image manage utility.
  • From the data page where the images have been attached, click on the red dot next to the image you would like to manage.
  • Change the title/description in the comment field.
  • Click the Change properties only button to save your changes.

Attaching Images to Topics (other than Data Pages)

ALERT! Image names cannot begin with a number. From the topic page where you want your image to appear:
  • Click the Attach Link at the bottom of the data page in the grey box.
  • On the resulting Attach page use the browse button to locate the image on your computer.
  • Include in the Comment field a title or description for your image.
  • Next click the Upload file button at the bottom of the page.
  • Next edit the page.
  • Where you would like the image to appear type the following code, replacing nameofimage.xxx with the actual name and extension of the image.
%ATTACHURL%/nameofimage.xxx

TIP Repeat this procedure for each image you wish to manually place on a topic page.

Deleting

Deleting Data Pages (Topics)

In the grey action bar at the bottom of each page you will find a more topic actions link. Clicking on this link gives you access to a multitude of functions for each data page (topic).

  • The first link you will see is the link to delete the topic. You will always want to use the delete link that deletes references in all public webs.

Deleting Images

All images associated with a data page can be managed by clicking on the red dot next to it.

  • Click on the red dot link located next to the image. This link will take you to that images management page.
  • Locate the trash Trash Can Icon just below the Upload file button and just above the attachments table. Click on the delete link next to the Trash Icon to delete the image.

Data Page Anatomy

Since TWiki gives you the power and flexibility to edit your pages directly, you will at times be exposed to some of the underlying code that controls the layout of some of the content on your page. It is critical that you do not edit these codes, as doing so will cause your page to not render correctly in the web browser. Below you will find descriptions and explanations of all of the code that you may find on various pages as you edit them.

The Data Form

When editing your data pages, the Data Form will appear at the top of each page. Each data page has it's own associated Data Form. You must fill in all fields as this data is used throughout your site to relay the property information to your viewers.

The Page Title Heading

The first line of your page will begin with the title for the page. TWiki creates headings by inserting three dashes followed by 1 to 6 pluses and a space. Any text following that bit of code will be displayed on it's own line in a large, bold font when you view your page.

---++ %SPACEOUT{"ExampleTitle"}%

The Property Description

This is automatically inserted into the page when you create it. You can edit it in the page any time thereafter.

The Display Table

Just below the Property Description you will see the following line of code:

%INCLUDE{"DisplayTable"}%

This is the code that creates the display table on each data page. Be sure to leave a blank line between your description and this code.

Interior Images

Just below the ---++++ Interior Images heading tag will be the following line of code. It creates the Interior Images image gallery on your data page.

%INCLUDE{"IGpTag"}%
